Welcome to Palomitas Country sketchbook. Here you’ll find designs and studies related to this strip, as well as its development ideas, shifts and adjustments through which it has to go in order to achieve the final product.
Just as the rest of the Ka-boomers, I enjoy traditional handmade art craft, and this is because it is a personal challenge and satisfaction to develop different working techniques. Regarding the personal satisfaction issue, we believe that traditional art should be preserved, and the best way to achieve this is by making physical original art, and though we also use modern illustration techniques we still think that the traditional ways should be honored and mastered in order to become a complete artist.
I hope you enjoy this “behind the scenes” section about how Palomitas Country is done. Here I present to you Alex’s character development drawings back from 2007, though I started to work on the idea a few years before this.
