This comic strip, particularly, came to my head since when I studied art at college, at the Plastic Arts National School of Mexico. I started to meet people who bluffed about their high intellectual levels, and I’m sure they had them and they still have them, but I understood they’re at some other business different to mine. They consider Disney themes, Hanna Barbera shows, Japanese series, science fiction movies, etc to be nerdy and geeky, lacking deepness, a thought with which I, of course, do not agree.
These friends, to whom I call “intellectualists” or “intelllectualoids”, always criticized me for professionally working on comic books since I was 14 years old. According to them, I was not doing any kind of art. These schoolmates and teachers were movie, art and well known writers’ novel’s followers. They were assiduous to existential philosophies of some other business, with which in my case, without underestimating, I didn’t feel satisfied, and that’s why I criticized their intellectual acting pose they used to showoff, and that’s some other stuff.
The aggressions some other friends and I, who enjoyed Fantasy themes, received from my partners became to be really annoying and hurting, so this somehow created my style and procedures to return them their criticism through my comics, since, usually, people like me who dedicate themselves to this profession usually get reflected on our drawn work.
Later on, I’ll keep representing this situation with Axayácatl, who’s based upon a teacher I had at college.

Siempre adore a Joe y su facilidad para “bajar de las nubes” a Axayacatl, con quien actualmente me identifico y siento la pedrada con chanfle (a pesar de los años y de las múltiples ocasiones que la lei, relei y actualmente me regocijo en vuelver a leer).
Afortunadamente no todos los intelectualoides somos como tus profes y compañeros, no nos odies (mucho).
Animo, mucha entereza, fuerza y paciencia para que esto dure mucho tiempo y llegue a más personas!!!

El intelecto no es malo, es malo el abuso del intelecto, hay aspectos que no puede definir el intelecto, como el amor.
Claro que no es malo, pero lo que debemos impedir es que el intelecto que es de corte finito trate definir al amor, que es infinito, el intelecto depende de lo conocido, lo cual tiene límites y de lo que se trata es de comprender el todo con el silencio mental.
